The Perkins 1200 range has been built around what customers want in a diesel engine. The 1206A-E70TTAG1 engine is a straight 6, series turbocharged and after cooled engine which comes with a simple integrated design leading to it being a great package. The engine is currently manufactured in Peterborough, UK and has a Perkins build number beginning with BP.
The engine has been designed and manufactured to make sure that it is reliable, quiet in operation and has many hours of productive life in addition this engine can either run at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
The engine requires 16 L of oil for lubrication, has a liquid cooled cooling system which requires 25 L of coolant and has a total displacement of 7.01L. This leads the engine to produce 320 horsepower (238.6 kWm) at 1800 RPM. Oil service intervals are 500 hours as standard.
The dimensions of this Perkins Engine are 1895mm (74.6") Long, 995mm (39.2") Wide and 1372mm (54") high. The cylinders have measurements of 105mm for the bore and 135mm for the stroke. The engine has a (dry) mass of 807.7kg.
As viewed from the flywheel end, the rotation of this engine is anti-clockwise.
This engine, paired with an alternator, would make an ideal power generation source running at either 50Hz or 60Hz. The generator can also be ran in parallel with another generator to double the power output, meaning this engine can be suited for higher power jobs as well.
