The Perkins 2800 series aim to meet the forever growing demands of the power generation industry. The 2806A-E18TAG2 is a 6 cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 18 L. The 2806A-E18TAG2 is currently built in the USA and has a Perkins build number which begins JGBF.
This engine can be set to run at the 50Hz or 60Hz configuration and the mechanically operated but electronically controlled unit fuel injectors alongside the carefully matched turbocharging allow for this engine to have excellent fuel atomisation with optimum economy.
The engine includes a turbocharger with an air-to-air charge cooler. It requires 62 L of oil for lubrication, 61 L of coolant for the water cooling system and has a total displacement of 18.1L. All these lead to the production of 842 horsepower (628 kWm) at 1500 RPM and 835 horsepower (623 kWm) at 1800 RPM. Oil service intervals are 500 hours as standard.
The dimensions of this Perkins Diesel Engine are 2545mm (100") Long, 1536mm (60.5") Wide and 1808mm (71") high. The cylinders have measurements of 145mm for the bore and 183mm for the stroke. The (dry) mass of the engine is 2050kg.
The rotation of this engine is anti-clockwise, as viewed from the fly wheel.
This engine is ideally suited for the power generation industry. Its low costs of operation and high reliability mean that used in a generator set it will be a very dependable and cheaper to run power source. If an increased power output is required, placing this generator in parallel with another generator will increase the output.
