The powerful Perkins 4000 series have been developed using the latest engineering methods and builds on the previous models from the already successful 4012 range. The series aims to meet the uncompromising demands of the power generation market. The 4012-46TWG3A is a 12 cylinder 46L turbocharged diesel engine which is currently manufactured in Stafford, UK. The Perkins build list for this engine model begins DGNM.
The 4012-46TWG3A runs at the 50Hz configuration and has the option of either the tropical or temperate radiator, making it a versatile engine.
The turbocharged and air to water cooled engine requires 177L of oil for lubrication, 196L of coolant for the water cooling system and has a total displacement of 45.842L. All these contribute to the engine producing 1772 horsepower (1321 kWm) at 1500 RPM.
This Perkins Diesel Engine has dimensions of 3714mm (146") Long, 1780mm (70") Wide and 2255mm (89") high. The cylinders have dimensions of 160mm for the bore and 190mm for the stroke. The (dry) mass of the engine is 5220kg. (Note these are the measurements with a temperate radiator).
The engine rotates anti-clockwise as viewed from the fly wheel.
This powerful engine, paired with an alternator, can be used in a generator to power a variety of industries in the harshest climates. To produce more power, it is possible to sync two of these generators, meaning there would be twice as much power produced.
